Attack of the Walama

So today, I discovered this time-sink/website, The Useless Web, a web portal to a bunch of useless websites. One of those sites, however, was not so useless: the glorious Walama. I immediately felt the need to sculpt this creepy/cute dude out, if for anything, than just to get away from the slump I've been in lately.

Hope you enjoy it.

OctoGuy! ZBrush Quick Sculpt

I'm alive! So is this speed-sculpt!

Concerned Octopus is concerned.
I dunno-- 40 minutes, maybe? ZBrush was giving me grief; hanging and doing something wonky with Smart ReSym. Thus, no shot of his right side. It wasn't pretty.

Let me know what you think. I have a couple ideas for cartoony octopus guys I might explore in the near future.

Scott Campbell's Philosopher! IN THREEE DEEEEEE!

So things were a bit slow at work this week, and I've had a hankering to do a low poly, hand-painted character for a while now. Being a huge Scott C. fan, I found myself doing a speed model of his character, the Philosopher.

My Latest Efforts

I've been sort of MIA lately, and that's because I've been plugging away at this new character model in my spare time. Have a look and let me know what you think!

 More after the jump.

Poor Decisions in Music, March 2012

I've been making some pretty bad decisions in my musical choices lately. The most recent: Gotye's Making Mirrors. Aside from the fantastic gem that is Somebody That I Used To Know, and the couple songs before it in the tracklist, the album quickly devolves into a "Peter Gabriel and Sting aren't so much influences as they are direct sources" fare.

Hi, Dudes and Dudesses! I made this during my lunch hour:

Also, There's a video of it after the break!

Racing Games With Heart.

I enjoy me a good racing game on occasion. I even have a steering wheel and pedals to play F1 2010 on my PC, headphones blaring to get a better feeling of immersion and so forth. But why is it that in the 25(?) years I've been playing video games, I have yet to see a good racing game designed to include some semblance of life outside the driver's seat?

Speed Session

I got the urge at 11.45 last night to record a sculpting session. No real plans, just started with a sphere and took off with it.

Old Speedie

So I found this dude on my work computer. I was doodling in Sculptris about a month or two after I got my job at WMS, as warm up for the day, and kinda knocked this guy out in a couple hours. Mostly, at least. I never finished his legs or tail, so the other night I decided it was time to finish him up and show him off.

Return of the speed sculpts

Part of my New New Year's resolution is to do more art and game stuff. Including this blog. But I also plan on getting back into doing semi-regular speed sculpts on lunch breaks and such. Here's today's 45 minute quickie, getting back into the groove of things.

LEGO? LEGO! LEGO Game? Yes please!

Originally I wrote this massive spiel on the level of maturity in the game business, both in content and in practice, but F that madness-- I want to write about LEGOs.
